Zamzar (Entry 9)

I recently learned about an amazing free application that allows you to convert files without downloading a program. If you go to www.zamzar.com and create an account you can easily type in a URL or upload one or more files to be converted to another format. For example, if you type a document in Microsoft Word and want to read it in Works, zamzar will convert the documents and allow you to read them. It also works for converting files created on newer versions of programs to older versions. One really cool way to use the program is that it allows you to grab videos from youtube or teacher tube to be used during instruction. These converted media files have a URL and this is sent to the user via email. The most current feature of this file conversion program is that it allows you to convert MS project files to jpeg, pdf, xls and so much more. This program is currently free to use, but upgrades can be purchased. Check it out!

I'm definitely going to check into this. Wish I had known about it sooner! It would be especially helpful for our teachers because our county blocks YouTube. Thanks!
